Mother. Businesswoman. Common-Sense Leader.

Laura Bassett is a lifelong resident of Oceanside, growing up and raising her family in the coastal community she has always called home. She and her husband of 32 years, Taylor, have six grown children, two sons in law, and a granddaughter. Laura and Taylor homeschooled their children and spent more than 15 years involved in local community theater, where their entire family participated both onstage and behind the scenes.

Laura earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Southern California in 1989. During her time at USC, she served as both President and Vice President of the accounting fraternity Beta Alpha Psi, gaining early leadership experience that helped shape her professional career. She has been a licensed real estate professional since 2003 and a licensed professional fiduciary since 2011.

Drawing on her financial background and commitment to serving others, Laura founded and continues to operate two successful businesses in real estate and fiduciary services. Her work in these fields requires trust, transparency, and steady judgment, qualities that have defined her approach throughout her career.

Laura has also built a strong record of community and public service. She currently serves as a San Diego County Civil Service Commissioner, supporting fairness and accountability in county government. She is an Ambassador for the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, working with local businesses and community partners. Laura is also a proud Rotarian and an active member of Soroptimist International.

For many years, Laura has volunteered with the Historic Star Theater, contributing as a house manager and costumer and supporting arts and youth programs that add to the cultural life of the coastal region.

Laura’s background in business, fiduciary responsibility, and community involvement reflects her dedication to the people and institutions that strengthen coastal communities.
